When we first moved to the Detroit area, so many well-intentioned friends and family showed us their concerned faces and said, "oh, I'm sorry." Sure, it's no Upper Peninsula, but we have found it to be an equally engaging land of outdoor adventure.
Recently, some fascinating photos have been floating around Facebook, documenting the "decay" of Detroit.
These are striking photos. However, they only capture the story of a few abandoned buildings. There are many more stories to the city and many areas that are thriving. Our Detroit Story is one told from the water. Others will have stories from the land.
Please visit the public Facebook album we have created to document the watery opportunities we have in Southeast Michigan. Consider see for yourself someday.
