In 2021, we put a week of vacation on the calendar to cruise the North Channel of Lake Huron with some friends, but we were not sure if it would work out because the Canadian border was still closed due to COVID-19. The original plans fell through, but the border opened in early September. We decided to go to the French River Provincial Park on the north end of Georgian Bay, Lake Huron. It looks amazing from the satellite view, and it is part of the voyageur route from Montreal to Grand Portage on Lake Superior, so we wanted to check it out. The outfitters were not offering shuttle services due to covid, so we could not do a point-to-point. We decided to just put in at Hartley Bay Marina and explore the region at a relaxed pace.
